Alhaji Abdullai :

The National Association of Road Transport Owners ( NARTO), has commended the Commissioner of Police, (CP), Lagos State Command, Mr Hakeem ODUMOSU, for effective handling of Security and community Pollicing in the State during the lockdown period.

NARTO stressed that rapid response actions and skillful strategies used by Mr ODUMOSU in policing the State has increased the confidence of Lagosians in Nigerian Police.

A Chieftain of NARTO in Lagos State, Alhaji Inuwa Abdullai, gave this commendation in a press statement.

His assertion, “Except for the fact that CP ODUMOSU had earlier gave a hard blow on criminal gangs and cult groups in Lagos, as well as the environs before the lockdown, it could have been disastrous and unbearable for residents, even investors to live in peace”.

He pointed out, “CP ODUMOSU may have devised strategies he gained as leader of the Presidential Task Force Enforcement team on Lagos Traffic decongestion to uncover hideouts of criminal elements in the State and its environs.”

He enthused, “That national assignment prepared him to act very fast as Lagos Police Boss in smashing criminals gangs and preventing them from taking over Lagos communities.

“These gangs could not strike at will to terrorise Lagos residents due to the proactiveness of the CP and his men”.

The Vice-chairman emphasised that the recent confidence-building tour of various communities in Lagos by the Commissioner in company of AIG Zone 2, and DIG from Abuja Police Headquarters, further helped to dispel fear of attacks by criminal gangs and panic due to uncertainty.

However, he advised the Police authorities not to rest on their oars but to be alert, as many residents hardly sleep at night, in order to protect their respective communities from hoodlums attack.

Alhaji Inuwa Abdullai, also hailed President Buhari’s aggressive policy on agriculture, which led to closure of land borders against rice importation.

He said, “The lockdown has shown that Nigerians are now capable of feeding themselves because many people have gone back to farm, in response to Buhari’s call on Nigerians to look inwards for food production. That is why there is no food shortage during this lockdown period”.

The NARTO Chief added, “President Buhari’s foresight in compelling Nigerians to feed themselves has paid off at this time of adversity.
“It could have been catastrophic for us as a nation, if we were to depend on food importation when other countries were also on lockdown”.
