Border drill operations: Comptroller Uba meets Kwara State Governor

.Calls for greater support on anti-smuggling drive

The Coordinator, Border Operations Drill, Sector-3 division, Kwara State, Comptroller Mohammed Uba has called for greater support and cooperation from agencies of government, as well as the public for the on-going border closure across the country.

Comptroller Uba made this call during a courtesy visit of the Joint Border Operations Drill under his supervision, to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulraham Abdulrazaq, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Uba stressed the need for Nigerians to support the policy of the Federal Government in monitoring the land borders, in order to prevent prohibited items from being smuggled into the country through the land borders.

He also pointed out the urgent need for Nigerians to engage in legitimate businesses and refrain from illicit trade capable of destroying the nation’s economy.

Comptroller Uba who visited the Governor with his team said they have a statutory duty to enforce government’s policy and must ensure that everything is done to promote economic growth and development.

His words, “Everyone can see what government is doing in Agriculture and other sectors of the economy. So, there is need for us to support the government in building local industries for greater growth”.

Aside from the courtesy visit to Governor Abdulrazaq,, Comptroller Uba and his team have toured various communities within their area of coverage since their operations in Kwara State began.

They have gone on working visits to border communities, rural areas,  interior villages in Kwara and even to traditional rulers, to enlighten them on the dangers of smuggling to the economy, and the need to protect Nigeria’ from influx of offensive items into its territory through the borders.
