It was a moment of honour and recognition for hard work, as the prestigious World Customs Organisation, WCO, Merit Award, was bestowed on the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of Ogun 1 Area Command, ASC1 AA Maiwada.
This International Award was presented to Maiwada, by the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Ali Hameed, at the International Customs Day celebration in Nigeria.
Maiwada, who was honoured for hard work and commitments to official duties, expressed great pleasure to the Service management, for finding him worthy of such great recognition.
He enthused, “My appreciation goes to the God Almighty for sparing my life and guiding me towards this path of success.
“I thank the CGC and his Management team for this honour.
“I appreciate the Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Command, Comptroller Michael Agbara.
“My sincere thanks to the National Public Relations Officer, DC Joseph Attah and the screening committees.
“I equally thank the officers of Ogun 1 Command for their hard work and support.
“I thank my parents, who laid the foundation for me to leverage on.
“I thank my wife, family and friends for their support.
“I thank the media for always informing and educating the public on the duties of Customs.
“Finally, l dedicate this Award to all Officers of Customs Public Relations Unit and Ogun 1 Area Command”.
The theme of this year celebration was ‘Customs fostering sustainability for people, prosperity and the planet’.
The theme was carefully selected to demonstrate the contributions of Customs towards sustainable future of the world, through consideration of social, economic, health and environmental concerns while discharging their duties.
