Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network is a big boost to media industry – Jerry Wesley

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network, NCBN, Engineer Edirin Jerry Wesley
has described the platform as a big boost to the media industry, as it will fast track reportage of factual and authentic news on activities of Customs, as well as Nigeria’s economy, in order to promote national security.

Wesley, who is an experienced administrator, said that NCBN will utilise its state-of-the-art digital broadcasting equipment to sensitise and properly mobilise the citizens to be security conscious, thereby helping security agencies to deal with the challenges facing the nation.

According to him, the network through in-depth information dissemination
will identify new windows for business opportunities and job creation for the citizens, especially the youths

He informed, “The official launch of this unique network, which is a Public, Private Partnership, PPP, initiative will focus in giving credible reports at all times”.

Wesley pointed out, “The platform will work in tandem with the ethics of media broadcasting, so as to create awareness in various sectors of Nigeria’s economy, with the aim of boosting economic growth in Nigeria and within the West African sub-region.

“We  highly appreciate the contributions of relevant stakeholders in the creation and success of this important platform.

“The proactive nature of the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed and the tremendous support we received from the GMD United Bank of Africa, UBA, Kennedy Uzoka, especially the keen interest shown by Mr. Tony Elumelu, an outstanding manager, have been the bedrock for this project.”

His words, “Most importantly, the network will provide timely digital security-related broadcast reports to check kidnapping, as well as banditry in the country”.

Responding to question on partnership, he asserted, “We are partnering with the Service, in order to serve as a channel for bringing in investors, in a cooperative arrangement for better services to improve the capacity for operational efficiently.

“In reality, we have huge untapped investments in Africa. Therefore, our aim is to look for investors around the world. This implies that the platform will also serve as the voice of  Nigeria Customs and the country at large, to promote national security and development.”
