(Report by Udeme Clement):

Mr Jerry Wesley:

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network, NCBN, Mr Edirin Jerry Wesley has disclosed that the platform will create over 5,000 jobs for Nigerians across the country.
He revealed this while making a presentation on the economic benefits of digital broadcasting, yesterday, during a seminar organised for Customs correspondents in Lagos.
Wesley, who has over 30 years of working experience in reputable organisations, including Niger Motors, a division of United African Companies, said NCBN platform is more than a tool for information dissemination.
He explained, “This emerging platform is a tool for job creation, economic development, poverty alleviation, improved security awareness and mental growth of the nation.
“It thus reduces business frictions between companies and stakeholders, government and citizens because of its ability to engender transparency.
“Considering Nigeria with a population of over 180million people, it is imperative to harness the power of digital broadcast network”.
He went on, ‘Taking into consideration the present challenges on insecurity, smuggling, kidnapping, carjacking and unbalanced reporting, the use of digital broadcast becomes important tool in information transfer.
“The NCBN is designed to be a useful platform for factual and authentic news reporting.”
He pointed out, “NCBN intends to introduce a broadcasting technique that will give a new face to media communication, thereby building legacy for real news, a source of positive, balanced and creative reports, which can be harnessed to boost national economy and security”.
