Comptroller Saidu:

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Area II Command, Onne Port, is in the news again for huge revenue collection.

The report reaching us now revealed that the Command under the leadership of Comptroller Galadima Saidu, as the Customs Area Controller, CAC, generated over N107.3 billion revenue for the Federal Government in 2019 economic year.

Comptroller Saidu made this known through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, Ifeoma Ojekwu.

He further disclosed that the Command surpassed its revenue target for 2019, with N11.6 billion, which is about 112 per cent increase.

This shows that the Command realised over N107.3 billion revenue out of its annual target of ₦95.7 billion, mostly from duty paid on imported goods during the period under review.

More so, the Command made another spectacular feat on export trade, as it realised 255,407 metric tons of export, with Free On Board, FOB, value of ₦28,420,745,662.5.

In the same vein, Comptroller Saidu and his team recorded 24 seizures, with Duty Paid Value, DPV, of over ₦1.2 billion.

The items seized include 99 containers comprising textile materials; foreign rice; vegetable oil, detergents; scrap metals; aluminum sheets, furniture, tomato paste and other prohibited items.

The CAC frowned at the continued menace of smuggling across the ports and borders, even as he lamented  the adverse effect of illicit trade on the nation’s economy.

He warned smugglers to desist from nefarious activities and allow sanity in the economic environment.

Comptroller Saidu expressed appreciation for the support his Command received from CGC Ali Hameed and his Management Team.
