The Tincan Island Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has recorded 269,819.5 tons of export, with Free On Board, FOB, value of N130billion in 2019 fiscal year.

The Command also generated a huge sum of over N346.5billion into the coffers of the Federal Government, within the same year under review.

The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller MBA Musa disclosed this to reporters through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, Mr.Uche Ejesieme.

He further revealed that the Command made over N346.5billion revenue collection, out of a  target of N342.3billion that it was given in 2019.

This shows that the Command surpassed its revenue target with N4.2billion. The records also indicated that Tincan Command generated N343.5billion in 2018 economic year.

He explained that the achievements recorded in 2019 were made possible through new operational templates designed by Comptroller Musa to enhance trade facilitation and revenue generation for government.

The new standards operating strategies put in place by Comptroller Musa brought about fresh impetus, which paved the way for officers of the Command to work in line with the vision of CGC Ali Hameed.

In anti-smuggling drive, Tincan Command made tremendous impact with seizures of foreign rice; pharmaceutical products; tyres; vegetable oil, as well as other prohibited items, with a Duty Paid Value, DPV, of N5.9billion.

His assertion,  “Tincan Command under the watch of Comptroller Musa will continue to promote stakeholders’ collaboration, while facilitating trade in line with global best practice”.
