Customs at Seme hits N6.5bn in 11 months *Seizes 47 trailers of foreign rice *Achieves 76% revenue target

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has recorded over N6.5billion on seizures and revenue collection from January to November, 2019.

The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba disclosed this through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of Seme Command.

He explained,  “Within 11 months, the Command recorded 1,302 seizures with Duty Paid Value, DPV, of over N1.5billion.

“Within the same period, the Command also realized N4.9billion revenue, making a cummulative amount of over N6.5billion”.

He went on, “The items seized include 1992 parcels of hard drugs; 47 trailers of foreign rice; 62 used vehicles; 1,100 bales of used clothes; 185 sacks of shoes; bags; 5,489 cartons of poultry products, petrol; vegetable oil and other items”.

Comptroller Uba attributed the feats recorded by the Command to strategic policy measures put in place to curb the menace of smugglers within  his area of coverage.

He advised smugglers to desist from economic sabotage and take advantage of the programme in Agriculture development,  designed by the Federal Government to enhance food sufficiency in the country.

Comptroller Uba also thanked CGC Ali Hameed for the support given to his Command within the period under review.
