The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Kwara Area Command, has raked in a whooping sum of over N1.27billion into the coffers of the Federal Government.

The Command also seized smuggled petroleum products, foreign rice and other prohibited items with a Duty Paid Value, DPV, of more than N25.4million within the period under review.

Kwara, which is among the new Commands created by the Customs management recently achieved this huge revenue generation within a short period of three months.

Speaking through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ahmed Hussaini Bello, explained that the feats achieved within this short period were made possible through new strategies, as well as fresh impetus brought to bear in operations within the Command’s area of coverage.

According to him, their target is to reduce smuggling to the barest minimum, while promoting legitimate trade facilitation to enhance economic growth and development.

To him, the Command is working in tandem with the fiscal policies of government.
