The Acting Customs Area Controller, CAC, of North Western Marine Command, Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Deputy Comptroller Bamidele Makinde (fsi) has embarked on a familiarization tour of his Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, Saidu Nuruddeen Abdullahi made this known to news men.
Speaking on behalf of the CAC, he explained that the tour was necessary to enhance operational efficiency by the Command in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
The PRO also said that DC Makinde has served Customs in various capacities before coming to North Western Marine Command, adding that, he will bring his experience to bear in re-positioning the Command for greater efficiency.
More so, Makinde while addressing officers at Yelwa-Yauri and Dole Kaina out-stations during the tour stated, “The newly created Command with headquarter in Lokoja, Kogi State is charged with the responsibility of protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity at the North Western Marine region of the country”.
The CAC mentioned, “Some of the areas to cover include Yelwa-Yawuri, Lolo, Dole Kaina, Gumbi, Toro, Tsamiya, Tunganleda, Gaffara, Wara and Zamare, among others”.
DC Makinde disclosed, “The Command will re-strategise by positioning the out-stations to better combat the threat posed by daring smugglers.
“The anti-smuggling operations will be reinvigorated to ensure that illegal routes around the waterways are effectively manned.”
The Acting CAC stressed, “Officers must remain steadfast and diligent in the discharge of their duties.
“We must work very hard to complement effort of the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Ali Hameed, in sustaining the tempo of total compliance with the fiscal policies of the Federal Government.”
