The Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has destroyed 3,301 cartons of seized poultry products.
The items were destroyed a while ago in the presence of Journalists and officials of other government agencies.
Addressing news men at the destruction site where the products were burnt, the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller BN Binga disclosed that the prohibited items were seized by his officers at Bar Beach axis through intelligence.
He said that the seized items worth over N32.4 million in Duty Paid Value, DPV.
Comptroller Binga stressed that with the launching of two sea-going vessels by CGC Ali Hameed, the officers of the Command have been well empowered to step up anti-smuggling operations within the creeks and waterways.
He emphasized that his Command is battle-ready for the dare-devil smugglers carrying out nefarious activities within his area of coverage.
