Comptroller Uba and top officers of the Command during a meeting with Interpol officials at Seme border:

In line with the policy of the Federal Government to ensure border security at all times, the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of Seme Customs Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba has addressed a detachment of Interpol officials at the Joint border Post between Nigeria and Republic of Benin.

Financial Business learnt that the team was a combination of security personnel, who were trained in Ghana and other West African countries to detect crimes across the borders within the sub-region.

According to Comptroller Uba, the training of these security officials from various countries within the sub-region was done with a view to improving border security management, in order to protect economies of member countries from illicit trade.

This, he said, is also a way of facilitating intra-African trade in movement of goods, people and services,  to keep pace with new global practice of Joint Border Posts management that is generally accepted everywhere in the world.

In the same vein, the Public Relations Officers, PRO of the Command, Saidu Abdullahi said that Seme Customs has also decorated its newly promoted officers

His words, “The event was graced by the Command CAC, who decorated the first set of officers promoted from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC)”.

The PRO said, “The CAC charged newly promoted officers to see it as another avenue for optimal performance, while congratulating them.

“The CAC urged them to rise up for new challenges ahead and be determined to carry out their statutory duties more effectively”.
