Seme Customs rakes in over N4.1bn revenue

The news coming in from Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, right now revealed that the Command just seized 7,524 bottles of foreign table water.

The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba disclosed this during a press conference at Seme.

He explained that the seized bottles of table water were imported from China.

According to him, the water is valued at N1.7million, with a total Duty Paid Value, DPV, of over N3million.

Comptroller Uba also revealed that the Command generated over N4.1billion in the half year of 2019 (From January to June, 2019).

His words,  “The amount represents 64 percent of the allotted revenue target for the Command”.

The CAC added,  “Effort of the Enforcement Unit of Seme Command with regards to suppression of smuggling has been unprecedented recently, as the Command intercepted 9 vehicles carrying 83 cartons of soap, 1,718 bags of foreign rice, 26 bales of used clothes, 13 bags of expired rice and two cartons of lemon cream among many other seized prohibited items”.

He disclosed,  “One of the vehicles used in carrying prohibited items is a Toyota Hilux Van masked in official regalia and was seized with 16 bags of rice at Gbaji axis through intelligence.

He called on his Benin Republic counterparts to respect the International laws on transfer of cargo from one Customs administration to another.
