The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has intercepted hard drugs commonly known as Cannabis Sativa concealed with dead bodies within its area of operations.
Financial Business inquest revealed that the Cannabis Sativa, which is under prohibited items in the country, was loaded in 55 bags and concealed with corpses by the smugglers to escape security checks at the border, but was uncovered by Seme Customs operatives.
Our sources further revealed that the Customs officers uncovered the items through intelligence and swiftly seized all the 55 wraps of the hard drugs.
Financial Business also learnt that the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of Seme Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, who is a highly experienced enforcement officer of the Service, has strategically positioned his men within the border axis, in order to thwart illicit trade by economic saboteurs working against government’s fiscal policies on economic development.
This mind boggling seizure is coming just few days after Seme Customs intercepted 1,582 wraps of hard drugs smuggled into the country through the same border.
The 1,582 wraps of Cannabis Sativa were concealed by smugglers in Indomie truck belonging to a corporate organisation, in attempt to escape security checks at the border, but the officers in their ingenuity intercepted the items.
Our correspondent also learnt that the CAC of Seme Command has stepped up patrol surveillance at the whole area, to ensure that offensive items are not smuggled into the country through the border axis.
