The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has intercepted 1,582 wraps of hard drugs (Cannabis Sativa) smuggled into the country through the border.

The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of Seme Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, disclosed this.

He further revealed that the hard drugs classified under prohibited items came from Ghana into Nigeria and his officers who are always alert tracked the items through intelligence.

That was not all. The operatives of Seme Command according to the CAC swiftly arrested a suspect in connection with the seized drugs.

Comptroller Uba, who is known to be a skillful and experienced  enforcement officer, explained that the 1,582 wraps of Cannabis Sativa were concealed by smugglers inside Indomie truck belonging to a corporate organisation, in attempt to escape security checks at the border, but his officers in  their ingenuity uncovered the items.

The CAC expressed displeasure on activities of economic saboteurs engaging in illicit drugs smuggling to the country, to the detriment of youths who are most vulnerable to drugs addiction.

Comptroller Uba said all hands must be on deck to tackle the trend of smuggling harmful drugs and other prohibited items to the country.
