The Customs Area Controller, CAC, Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘A’ of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Mohammed Aliyu and his team have recorded outstanding performance in anti-smuggling operations and other core functions from January to March, 2019.
Financial Business learnt that FOU Zone ‘A’ has recorded seizures with a Duty Paid Value, DPV, of over N10 billion, in the first quarter of 2019.
Following his exceptional performance in anti-smuggling drive and enforcement, Comptroller Aliyu has been honoured with ‘Entrepreneurship Development Award’, bestowed on him at the just concluded ‘Anti-smuggling enlightenment workshop’, organised by Financial Business Group, in collaboration with Daily Business Update, at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.
The Anti-smuggling workshop was organised to enlighten the Public on the dangers of smuggling to the nation’s economy and the need to embrace entrepreneurship as key to economic development.
Comptroller Aliyu and his team received encomiums from maritime stakeholders, senior Customs officers and manufacturers who attended the workshop with over 290 participants.
The Unit was highly commended for its feats in anti-smuggling within Zone ‘A’.
In his remarks, Comptroller Aliyu pledged his total commitment and that of his officers to continue raising anti-smuggling tempo of FOU Zone ‘A’, even as he commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed for repositioning the Service for greater recognition within and outside the country.
