Stakeholders in the maritime sector of the economy are commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed, on the initiative to modernise implementation of Nigeria Customs Integrated Information System, NICIS ll, at Seme Joint Border Post, to enhance trade facilitation.

While some stakeholders who spoke with Financial Business said implementation of NICIS II at the Joint Border Post would stimulate more revenue collection for government, others described the programme as a well-thought-out initiative by Customs management to ensure harmonisation in cargo clearance processes.

To fast track the process, the Customs team led by ACG ICT and Modernisation on Implementation of NICIS ll, visited Seme Area Command, where the Customs Area Controller, CAC, Comptroller Mohammed Uba and his officers were on ground to receive them.
