How Customs in Port Harcourt surpassed revenue target

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Area I Command, Port Harcourt, has generated a huge sum of N5.1billon in November 2018, surpassing the monthly revenue target of N3.8billion given to the Command.

Analysis of the statistics above shows that the Command recorded revenue increase of N1.3bn above its target of N3.8billion.

Comparatively, the amount realised shows increase of N2.9billion above N2.2billion revenue generated in September this year, as well as N1.2billion greater than N3.9billion collected in October 2018.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, Oscar Ivara , in a press statement signed and made available to Financial Business, said that the outstanding revenue collection was achieved through efforts by the Customs Area Controller,  CAC, of Area 1 Command, Mohammed Boyi at ensuring zero tolerance for smuggling and other infractions.

According to him, the CAC achieved this feat with tremendous improvement on trade facilitation and enabling business ambience, without compromising national security of the nation.

Ivara stressed, “The remarkable record of revenue generation by the Command within the period under review clearly demonstrated productivity and uncompromising leadership by the CAC.”

He explained that the Command is working in tandem with the Executive Order of the Federal Government on, ‘Ease of Doing Business’ aimed at ensuring speedy cargo clearance, even as inter-agency collaboration is given needed consideration.
