Customs strike force intercepts 8,413 bags of rice in Kwara

.Says black Christmas awaits smugglers

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, team of Strike Force, led by SC Ohagwu Jude has made  seizure of 8,413 bags of smuggled foreign rice (50kg each), 524 gallons of vegetable oil, (25litres each), from Oniko village located within Moro local government area of Kwara State, today Saturday, December 22, 2018.

The Service National Public Relations Officer, PRO, DC Joseph Attah, made this known.

He explained, “The team arrived the village on Tuesday night, December 18, 2018. The Customs operatives of FOU, Zone ‘B’ and those of Niger/ Kwara/ kogi Command gave the Strike Force team operational re-inforcement, assistance and escort for safe evacuation of the seizure to the Station in Ilorin”.

DC Attah went on, “Similarly, assistance also came from the Army that provided back-up throughout the operation.”

He pointed, “The National coverage co-ordinator of Strike Force, DC Abdullahi Kirawa rushed to the scene and supervised evacuation of the items that lasted through the night.”

His assertion, “The seizure has been handed over to the Government Warehouse Keeper in Ilorin for safe custody”.

His words, “This quantum of rice seizure is coming closely on the heels of seized 59 containers of Tramadol and other controlled drugs across the Commands.

“Customs is ending the year, 2018 on a very high note, making it a black Christmas for the dare-devil smugglers”.
