NPA boss tasks facility officers on security improvement at ports

NPA boss:

The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, has called on Ports Facility Security Officers to put measures in place and improve security at the nation’s ports.

She made this known while speaking on ports reforms in Lagos.

According to her, “Intelligence gathering and information sharing with other security agencies at the ports are imperative to enhance security at nation’s port for greater productivity”.
She said,“Improved security measures at the ports would widen the scope of surveillance, in order to attract more investments and create jobs for the citizens”.

The NPA boss pointed out, “The Federal Government is anchoring on maritime industry to gain non-oil export variant of the nation’s revenue earner, which would not be achieved without reliable port operations.”
She added, “The authority would collaborate with relevant security agencies, as well as other stakeholders for improved security at the nation’s ports.

” Usman expressed readiness by NPA to always support all security agencies operating at the ports, with a view to ensuring maximum security in Nigerian maritime environment.
