The Founder, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, Dr Boniface Aniebonam has said that the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN, under the leadership of Abubakar Tsanni would add value to freight forwarding business for greater economic growth and development.

Dr. Aniebonam, who is also the Chairman, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, made this known in his speech, at the 19thFreight Forwarders Day celebration, organised by NAGAFF to mark its 19 years of existence and operations in the port industry.

Speaking further, Dr. Aniebonam who many described as outstanding Freight Forwarder, a philanthropist and exemplary leader, advised CRFFN Board to be proactive in its regulatory functions, in order to enhance professionalism in the freight forwarding activities, in line with global best practice.

Dr. Aniebonam condemned in totality illegal collection of fees by terminal operators in the port, calling on the Council to do the needful in checking such illegality.

He stressed, “The good thing is that Abubakar Tsanni does not belong to either NAGAFF or Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA.  As such, he would lead CRFFN transparently to enhance professionalism in freight forwarding business for the benefits of our port industry.”

In the same vein, Dr. Aniebonam declared his readiness to quit NAGAFF, saying he has trained capable hands to run the affairs of the association successfully.

Aniebonam’s exit from NAGAFF was received with loudest ovation by top industry stakeholders, freight forwarders from various chapters in Lagos, maritime experts, academia, media practitioners and dignitaries from all walks of life, who turned out in large number to grace the occasion.

In his remarks, Tsanni who represented the Minister of Transport, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi,  expressed profound enthusiasm on the efforts and commitments of Dr. Aniebonam to the growth of maritime industry in Nigeria, calling on others to emulate his steps.

He thanked Dr. Aniebonam for his vision and enormous contributions in taking NAGAFF to where it is now, promising that CRFFN under his watch would live up to expectation.
