The mind boggling seizure of Tramadol recorded by Tincan Command:

The Tincan Island Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has stepped up security surveillance throughout its area of coverage within the port.

This is sequel to the recent seizure of 13 containers of Tramadol and bleaching soap, with Duty Paid Value, DPV, of over N3.1 billion recorded by operatives of Tincan Command through intelligence.

Financial Business gathered that the Command has also renewed its operational strategies, with well trained officers at alert 24 hours to ensure that prohibited items, as well as hard drugs capable of causing severe health hazards are not brought into the country through the port unchecked.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of Tincan Customs, UCHE EJESIEME, explained that the Command under the supervision of Comptroller Musa Baba Abdullahi, as the Customs Area Controller, CAC, is working assiduously to ensure that contraband are not smuggled into the country through Tincan Port.

“The PRO pointed out, “The CAC and officers of Tincan Command are working in tandem with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Hameed Ali to facilitate legitimate trade, increase revenue generation for the Federal Government and curb smuggling of prohibited items into our economic environment.”

He emphasized, “The operational efficiency of Tincan Command has reflected in revenue collection and the level of seizures recorded recently.  For instance, the latest seizures of 11 x 40ft and 2 x 20ft containers loaded with Tramadol, Ciprofloxacin Capsules, Diclofenac Sodium Tablets, Soffeathe I.V Cannula, Sildencfil Citrate Tablets, bleaching soaps and bales of used clothing worth over N3.1 billion, which brought the attention of the CGC to Tincan Command”.

He went on, “Aside from the recent seizures, our ‘ONE TREATMENT AREA’ serves as one-stop-shop centre for Tincan Command covering Query and Amendment (Q & A), Valuation and CIU for harmonisation of trade disputes. This is another initiative at Tincan Command that boosts trade facilitation in line with global best practice”.
