The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Seme Area Command is in the news again, as President Muhammadu Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon jointly inaugurated Seme Krake Joint Border Post.
President Buhari’s visit to Seme Command, as well as President Talon is not only remarkable, but would go down the history of Nigeria Customs, as this is coming only few days after Seme Command released outstanding record of over N1billion revenue raked into the coffers of the Federal Government between August and September, 2018 fiscal year.
Stakeholders and security experts who witnessed the visit of President Buhari and President Talon to Seme, described the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of Seme Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba Garba, an highly experienced and exceptional Customs officer, who makes indelible mark at every Command he goes.
While some stakeholders described Comptroller Uba as a workaholic, others said that he is always working assiduously to promote the image of the Service.
Comptroller Uba who left Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘A’ recently with outstanding records in revenue generation, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations is already making serious impact at Seme Command.
In his remarks, Comptroller Uba expressed great pleasure on the visit of both Presidents, even as he commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed, on Customs reforms, stressed that CGC Ali is repositioning the Service for greater productivity, as well as recognition within and outside Nigeria.
