The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, has said that NPA would work in synergy with Nigerian Navy and relevant stakeholders in the maritime sector to ensure sanity in the ports industry notwithstanding its limited budget.
The NPA boss made this known during a working visit by the new Flag Officer Commanding, FOC, Western Naval Command, Real Admiral Obed Habila Ngalabak.
According to her, “There is urgent need for Nigerian Navy to partner with NPA in securing the waterways within their jurisdiction. This is important considering the history of their evolution and peculiar areas of operations”.
She explained that the renovation and rehabilitation of Takwa Bay would be considered appropriately.
In his remarks, the FOC called on NPA to assist the Navy in carrying out full reconstruction of Takwa Bay, even as he explained the economic benefits for NPA and the Navy in patronising the Naval Dockyard.
