The out-going Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Christopher Ogar Odibu, who has just been promoted as the Acting ACG, Federal Operations Unit, FOU Zone ‘B’, has commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Ali Hameed on his outstanding roles in reforming the Service for greater efficiency.
ACG Odibu, who has also been bestowed with the prestigious honour of a ‘Fellow’ Institute of Transport and Management Technology, ITMT, Lagos, said the Service under the watch of CGC Ali Hameed has performed exceptionally in the last three years.
ACG Odibu enthused, “The Service has recorded impressive performance in the areas of revenue generation, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling activities, which are clearly seen and commended by different segments of the society”.
He added, “For instance, “Just last week, CGC Ali Hameed was given the conferment as ‘Fellow’, Institute of Transport and Management Technology, in recognition of his enormous contributions for supporting the policy of Federal Government in growing agriculture. The award given to the CGC by ITMT was all over the news and I see it as an honour well deserved for his hard work”.
He pointed out, “Aside from revenue collection, the Institute specifically mentioned Customs effort in curtailing rice smuggling, in order to support local rice farmers in the country.”
Responding to question on the award also given to him by the Institute, ACG Odibu said, “I feel highly honoured to be given such recognition by the Institute, especially as it was given the same day with my boss, the CGC. I thank ITMT for this honour and would continue to carry out my statutory duties effectively”.
