Owerri Customs intercepts Military hardwares, pharmaceutical products

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘C’ Owerri, has intercepted Military hard-wares as well as pharmaceutical products imported into the country without appropriate documents from government.

 The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Unit, Comptroller Olusemire Kayode made this disclosure, explained that a Patrol Team of the Unit intercepted a truck loaded with Military hard-wares and medicaments concealed by the importers, in a bid to escape security checks.

According to him, the seized items include 90 pairs of Military camouflage uniform; 97 pieces of Military camouflage jungle hats;
202 pieces of Military camouflage round neck vest;
20 pieces of military camouflage singlet;
40 pieces of Military camouflage jungle boots; 10 pieces of Military camouflage water bags and
two  rolls of plain Military khaki materials.  

Other items seized by the Patrol Team include
seven cartons of 402 packs of hydrochloride Royal tramadol, containing 10x10x10 tablets made in India;
four cartons of 60 packs Tramadol injection, made in India;
three cartons of 140 packs of CSP with codeine cough syrup made in UK;
100 packs of Diazepam;
two cartons of 231 packs of Juhel D5 tablets;
one carton of 100 packs of Pankizol;
10 cartons of new flip chart board; 51 cartons of lion school chalk and one carton of file.
The CAC said that the officers who seized the items acted on a tip off, urging the public to always give Customs credible information that would help in curtailing illicit trade in the country.

According to the CAC, two suspects were apprehended in connection with the seized items and are being interrogated. Kayode expressed displeasure about activities of smugglers, recalling that the same Unit recorded seizure of Military hardware in July this year.
