The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Tincan Island Port Command received another boost in terms of infrastructure, following the commissioning of  ‘ONE TREATMENT AREA’, to enhance Operations of the Query & Amendment Department.

In the same vein, an Ultra Modern Canteen and a Mini Sports Pitch was also commissioned in an event, which attracted Maritime Stakeholders.

The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Musa Baba Abdullahi, while conducting the Zonal Coordinator round the projects, noted that the projects became imperative                                  following the need to re-position the Command for more productivity, in order to add further impetus to its status as a User Friendly Port in the sub-region.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, UCHE EJESIEME, made this known in a press statement made available to Financial Business.

While declaring open the ‘ONE STOP SHOP’ the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller General Dahiru Aminu, commended the CAC for his thoughtfulness, stated that the facility would address incessant complaints of multiplicity of alerts, which hitherto was a recurring decimal.

“As the name connotes, stakeholders are enjoined to take advantage of this, especially for facilitation of Legitimate Trade”.  The centre would house Query and Amendment (Q & A), Valuation and CIU for harmonisation of trade disputes.

Similarly, the Zonal Coordinator commended the CAC for embarking on projects with considerable significance to the well being of the officers.  He particularly eulogised the Management and Staff of Seven Up Bottling Company Limited, for donating a synthetic Mini Pitch, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, noted that it would serve the sporting needs of both officers and their esteemed stakeholders.

On the area of Revenue Collection, the CAC declared that the Command raked in N31.8billion in the month of
August, 2018.

Meanwhile, the Command also organised a two-day seminar for Association of Nigeria Customs Licence Agents, ANCLA, 5^th – 6^th September, 2018 following their formal request for training on “END USER CERTIFICATE (EUC) DOCUMENTATION GUIDELINE AND REQUIREMENT”.

Declaring the session open, the CAC emphasized the importance of EUC as a regulatory document and urged Importers and their Agents to ensure strict compliance with the processes in the interest of National Security.  The lecture was anchored by Deputy Comptroller BOMOI SULEIMAN, the O/C Customs Intelligent Unit Tincan Island Port.

Generally speaking, the CAC harped on the need for Stakeholders to build effective partnership by supporting and enforcing Fiscal Policies of the Federal Government, in terms of Trade, while reiterating his commitment to reward compliant declarants.
