In line with the policy of the Federal Government to ensure effective border security, the Customs Area Controller, CAC, Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Mohammed Uba Garba, has taken the familiarisation tour of his new Command to Nigerian Airforce.
Comptroller Uba demonstrated this pragmatic working synergy when he led top officers of Seme Customs Command on a familiarisation tour to 121 Forward Operations Base, Owode.
Accordingly, Uba’s visit to Nigerian Airforce on familiarisation tour is just one of several visits he has embarked upon since his assumption of office, as the new CAC of Seme Customs Command.
The CAC emphasized that inter-agency collaboration is vital in anti-smuggling operations, particularly at a very busy border like Seme. As such, his Command would ensure a good working collaboration with sister agencies operating within Seme border.
He said, “Our core functions include revenue generation for government, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling activities. The anti-smuggling operations aimed at protecting our economy from influx of prohibited items. In carrying out these duties, we must ensure appropriate security surveillance within our border, which implies working in synergy with other security agencies”.
His assertion, “Securing our border is quite imperative in carrying out our duties, because this would even create a condusive environment for smooth trade facilitation and revenue generation for economic growth and development.”
Also, maritime stakeholders who spoke with Financial Business commended Comptroller Uba and his officers for their outstanding records on inter-agency collaboration.
