Comptroller Musa outstanding records of anti-smuggling, trade facilitation   

 .Gets award for remarkable performance

 

Aside from N210.2bn revenue generated from January to July 2018, Comptroller Jibrin Musa, the out-going Customs Area Controller, CAC, of Apapa Customs, handed over the Command with nine seizures within the period under review. These include pharmaceutical products, vegetable oil and other contraband.

Comptroller Musa in his handing over note said, “13 containers of Tramadol were imported in contravention of approved guidelines and procedures.

“The Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seizures was N357 million, while the 13 containers of tramadol would be handed over to the National Agency for Foods, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for necessary investigation”.

He added, “The Free On Board (FOB) value of the seizures was also put at N57.6 million. All the achievements were due to the Federal Government’s effort at diversifying the economy through encouragement of non-oil exports’’.

He pointed out, “Over the years, the Command had engaged the best traditional communication tools to acquaint stakeholders with the activities of Customs. We had regular meetings with stakeholders, received high level delegations from different government agencies, nationals of foreign countries and members of different strategic private committees”.

He urged officers, men of the Command as well as the media to give the new CAC, needed support, to enable him achieve the mandate of suppressing smuggling and generating revenue for the government.

The handing over exercise ended with an ‘Award of outstanding performance in revenue generation’ bestowed on Comptroller Musa, (the Gentleman CAC) by Search Light News.

In his response, Musa dedicated the Award to CGC Ali Hameed and entire officers of the Command, even as senior officers, who witnessed the occasion, described the Award as an honour well deserved by the Gentleman CAC.

Comptroller Musa specifically commended the Public Relations Unit of the Command for remarkable performance and due diligence throughout his tenure as the CAC of Apapa Command.
