Lagos Chamber of Commerce holds 2018 industry awards

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry ,LCCI, a leading voice in the Organised Private Sector ,OPS, of Nigeria’s economy, has concluded plans to hold its 2018 Commerce and Industry Awards.

This year’s edition of the awards, which is the 5th in the series is slated for Tuesday,   May 1, 2018, at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The programme that is going to be an improved edition, hopes to attract major players in various sectors of the economy.

According to the Director General of LCCI, Mr. Muda Yusuf,  “The objective of the annual awards is to recognise, celebrate and promote private as well as public institutions that have exhibited the core values of best business practices, growth through innovations, business sustainability and positively impacted the society.”

He added, “The LCCI Awards prides itself as a credible platform where winners emerge through a painstaking selection process supported by robust research and market intelligence. Some of the awards categories to be won at the prestigious event include: Award for Excellence in sectors of the economy such as Banking, Insurance, Health Care, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Aviation, Pharmaceuticals, Education and Media.”

“LCCI aims to celebrate deserving corporate organisations and public institutions that have made remarkable contributions to the development of commerce and industry and the economy at large. Good corporate governance is also a major consideration in the evaluation of nominees for the award.” Yusuf disclosed.

Accordingly, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the premier chamber of commerce in Nigeria. Founded in 1888 and incorporated in 1950 as a non-profit making organisation, the LCCI promotes, supports and opposes legislative or other measures affecting trade, industry, commerce and agriculture. LCCI has over 1,500 registered members and it is well known for its annual ‘Lagos International Trade Fair, which was launched in 1977.
