The First female CAC of MMA:

The Murtala Mohammed Area Command is poised for greater productivity this 2018, as the new Customs Area Controller ,CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Shoboiki JT (Mrs,) Phd, is bringing fresh impetus into bear, on operations at the Command.

Comptroller Shoboiki, who is the first female CAC of MMA Command, has within few weeks of assumption of duty toured round all the units under her domain.

The CAC also met critical stakeholders such as representatives of ANLCA, NAGAFF, Airline Operators and Terminal Operators within the Command, where she charged them to comply with government fiscal policies, avoid false declaration and concealment, warning that she will not tolerate infraction of any form.  

The CAC equally inspected sheds at NAHCO, SAHCOL and DHL, where she implored all officers to be on their toes and to do their work diligently. During her inspection tour, she called for immediate inspection of some consignments that were awaiting examination.

Shoboiki within the same period visited various cooling systems used for storage of vaccines and medications. The CAC also held meetings with Heads of sister agencies operating at the international airports. These include Nigeria Immigration Service ,NIS, Police, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ,FAAN, the DSS, the Military, Air Force and other agencies.

 Her words during the tour, “My duty is to support CGC Ali Hameed and his management team in achieving revenue generation. This is imperative, as the Federal Government strives to diversify the economy. We must work very hard to ensure we meet and surpass our revenue target. Achieving this task will be to our credit. I believe we can do it”.

 In the same vein, the CAC received the Senate Committee on Customs and Tariff that visited the Command on oversight function, during which, the government warehouse at MMA was inspected.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said, “The visit is in accordance with parliamentary procedures and in tandem with the rules of the Senate. I enjoin Customs to do more in the area of revenue generation, to enable government meet its numerous national obligations”.

 Accordingly, the CAC tasked officers on the importance of discipline and professionalism at all times. She said, “Officers must be properly dressed always, as failure to do so would attract sanctions. Acts of lateness and absenteeism from work are things I do not have patience with. All Unit Heads should rise up to their responsibilities and take charge, because I will hold them responsible for whatever happens”.

 Moreso, the clearing agents pledged their support to work with the new CAC,  to meet and even surpass the revenue target of the Command.
