.Records 27.95% revenue increase in 2018

The Nigeria Customs Service ,NCS, Port Harcourt Area 1 Command has generated N6billion in the months of January and February 2018. The amount shows increase of 27.95percent when compared to what the Command realised within the same period in 2017.

The Customs Area Controller ,CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Kabiru Isiyaku made this known in a statement signed and made available to Financial Business.

He explained, «The Command raked in N3.5billion in January and February 2017, against its revenue target of N5.3billion. Also, within the same period in 2018, we generated N6billion, against the target of N7.6billion, thus achieving 27.95percent increase ».

The CAC said, «The revenue drive is in tandem with the official mandate I received from the Comptroller General of Customs ,CGC, Ali Hameed, upon my assumption of duty as the CAC ».

His words, « My mandate by the CGC is to ensure that the Command adheres to the core values of the Service, as it relates with the Area Command in all ramifications with our stakeholders and other agencies to achieve out target for the year. »

He stated, « In achieving this feat, the Command haven faced challenges developed strategies which when enforced resulted in increase in revenue generated.

Those strategies according to the Command helmsman include, “In-house capacity building for regular training and retraining of officers to ensure maximum revenue collection. Renovation of dilapidated buildings and conducive working efficiency. Motivation of officers and men of the Command to work diligently in their respective units and application of the Service golden rules”

Comptroller Isiyaku also commended CGC Ali Hameed and his management team for their support and guidance.
